Foley
Footsteps, cloth and props recorded to picture in our own room.

Foley is one of the most creative parts of sound post-production, and one of the most demanding.
What the set could not give us, we create: footsteps, cloth, props and textures recorded to picture in our Foley space.
What Foley is
Foley is the sound of what happens on screen, performed to picture: footsteps, cloth, hands, objects. It is recorded in a studio because on set the microphone is there for dialogue, and because the international M&E track needs those sounds separate from the voices.
How we do it
We record in our Foley space, with surfaces and props for each scene, and then edit and sync frame by frame. That way every step and every rustle sounds the way the character should.
Frequently asked questions
- Why do I need Foley if I already have production sound?
- Production sound prioritizes dialogue. Foley completes and improves the action sounds, and it is essential for the M&E used by dubbed versions.
- What does Foley include?
- Footsteps (per character and surface), cloth and movement, and props. It is delivered edited and synced, on separate tracks for the mix.
- Do you do Foley for video games and animation?
- Yes. In animation and games Foley matters even more, because there is no production sound.
